Hadrien Dussoix

Dreamining in my dreaming

My work is often linked to art history, initially a sort of homage to the past, a form of iconoclasm. My approach aims to create something new, something that can surprise me and challenge my certainties. I work in series, often several at once, each exploring an aesthetic or a contradiction of different aesthetics. I then enjoy confronting the works resulting from these different explorations. This creates a sort of artistic oxymoron that results in a certain sensitivity which I find very appealing.

Some of my works are more introspective, radical, and pictorial. I like the work to be open to dialogue, exchange, and individual perception. This prevents me from becoming trapped in rigidity.

Questioning the world we live in, creating new connections, that’s what art means to me.

It is both my life, the excesses, and a point of reflection. It is the intuition and perception of the evolution and current state of painting, art, the world, and what connects me to this world which itself questions. Offering a different perspective on things. Questioning tastes, beauty, what is validated, always doubting everything, I think that’s my crucible with art.

“My works do not provide answers. I think that’s art. It has no purpose, that’s it.” – Chris Burden.
